It was an honor to be involved. The 'Love Stories' panel I moderated featured UK author Adele Parks and Indian author Ira Trivedi, and the hour passed much too quickly!
What a thrill and honor it was to learn that Kate Atkinson enjoyed reading Lillian on Life during the summer holidays. I've been a big fan since I read Started Early, Took My Dog. She's incredibly versatile, and never quite what I expect. Here's what she said:
"I absolutely loved Lillian on Life. It was a delight. The style of it so fresh and clever and subversive and there’s something very brave about it."
Many thanks to the readers who came to The French Bookshop for the signing on the 13th, and a round of applause for Nathalie Ribette and her wonderful reading of the first chapter in French.
I will be heading down to The French Bookshop in Tiong Bahru, Singapore on Saturday 13 September to sign copies of the French edition of Lillian on Life. The lovely Nathalie Ribette will also be doing a reading for me.
Signing from 11 am to 1 pm, and the reading will be at 11 am. You can find the details in French here.
I'm thrilled that my short story, Independence Day, will be published in the July edition of Good Housekeeping (US).
More exciting news from France as the publication date gets closer. My publisher, Autrement, has featured Lillian in their special rentrée littéraire catalogue.
I've just had the title for the French edition of Lillian on Life confirmed. It's going to be called La vie de Lillian, mode d'emploi which, roughly translated means The Life of Lillian, Operating Instructions. I think it captures the feel of the book perfectly.
Very happy to let you know that the French translation of Lillian on Life will be published in August 2014.
